Home Infusion Therapy Specialty Programs
From antibiotics and nutrition support to pain medication, pre- and post-transplant therapies, and immune therapy, our home infusion team will coordinate specialized care and the delivery of equipment in a timely manner in order support the individual needs of each patient we serve.
Antibiotic Therapy
For a number of different reasons or conditions, patients may need IV antibiotics to treat an infection. With CHI Health at Home, these patients have the option to receive the care they need at home. Many patients benefit from receiving treatments in the comfort of their own home. Not only is it a familiar and comfortable setting, it also alleviates the chance of exposure to foreign germs that could impair a patient’s recovery. Depending on the type of treatment, we work with our patients to help maintain their independence and daily routine.
Chemotherapy
Patients undergoing chemotherapy for treatment of certain types of cancer may be able to receive treatment in the comfort of their own home. Receiving chemotherapy at home can transition a patient home from the hospital more quickly, as well as reduce the number of visits to the hospital for treatments. Whether an intermittent or continual infusion, CHI Health at Home can help patients receive treatment in the comfort of their own home.
Enteral Nutrition
Some patients who are unable to obtain nutrition by swallowing food can receive enteral nutrition, or tube feeding, through our home infusion therapy services. With some illnesses, the body may require increased nutrients to meet the demands of physical repair needed to restore their health. Our pharmacists and dieticians work directly with each patient and their physician to establish and provide the proper nutrition needed to reach specific goals. Our team of experts will determine the best administration for nutrition, provide education and follow up to ensure success. Whether through gravity, bolus infusion or the use of a pump, patients have access to our entire team. Beginning with set up to follow up, our goal is to help each patient exceed their goals and maintain or restore their independence.
Immunoglobulin Therapy
Patients with immunodeficiency diseases, who are unable to produce adequate amounts of antibodies, may receive immunoglobulin (Ig) therapy as part of their care. This replacement therapy may help patients fight off infections, reduce pain, and increase mobility. While the frequency and dosage of therapy varies for every patient, this is a viable treatment for a number of immunodeficiency diseases such as primary immune deficiencies or chronic nerve disorders. With recent advancements and proper instruction and education from our team of experts, many patients can now administer this type of therapy on their own, following their initial assessment.
Inotropic Therapy
Inotropic therapy is used to help relieve and control heart failure symptoms so patients are able to live more productive lives and perform daily activities. This type of therapy provides medication to help the heart pump more effectively and alleviate some symptoms of heart failure, such as swelling or edema. Patients who receive inotropic therapy benefit from increased circulation and a decrease in fluid build-up; resulting in a better quality of life. Our team of experts will administer care, monitor patients, and work with them to provide the best platform for care.
Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
As a result of some chronic diseases or gastrointestinal disorders, a patient may have problems absorbing nutrients from food when consumed orally. Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) is a comprehensive nutritional liquid compound tailored to a patient’s specific nutritional needs. The compound includes vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, protein and electrolytes at a prescribed amount to meet the patient’s needs. Working directly with a patient’s physician, our team of experts has every patient covered. From the pharmacists and technicians who create specific compounds, to the nurses who administer treatment, our patients receive the highest level of compassionate care to meet their complex nutritional needs.
